How to convert and edit Hauppauge WinTV .ts files to make a DVD?

"I just purchased a Hauppauge HVR-2250 TV tuner card so that I could record high-definition TV programs (over the air broadcasts) to the hard drive on my home theater PC which runs Windows 7 64-bit. My goal is to use Pinnacle Studio on my Windows XP PC to edit these video files to add a title and remove commercials then burn them to a DVD that I can play in my stand-alone DVD player.

Using the WinTV v7 1.2a. software, that came with my TV tuner card, to record live TV generates a .ts file. The .ts file format is not recognized by Pinnacle Studio. How can I convert .ts files to a more common high-def video format that Pinnacle can read and work with? Alternatively, is it possible to use WinTV to record in a different, more common and editable format?

If that isn't possible, I could use Windows 7 Media Center to record live TV which generates .dvr-ms files. I'm not sure if Pinnacle or Windows Movie Maker can edit those either though. I appreciate your suggestions on how to edit recordings of live TV to create a DVD. Thanks!" ----VideoHelp

While, this is a farily long problem, and below, I am trying the give my own answer:

The first problem: Does Pinnacle Studio or Windows Movie Maker can edit Hauppauge WinTV recorded .TS file?

The definite answers is "NO", neither Pinnacle Studio nor Windows Movie Maker, According to the specifications released by Pinnalce Studio, it support a few video formats like AVI, WMV, MPG, MOD, TOD, 3GP. AVCHD, M2TS, MTS etc, it don't support .TS file or DVR-MS file, Windows Movie Maker works perfectly with AVI, WMV, MPG, ASF files etc

Therefore. to import Hauppauge HD PVR TS files to Pinnacle Studio or Windows Movie Maker for editing, it is necessary to get a Video Converter to help you convert Hauppauge HD PVR TS files to Pinnalce Studio or Windows Movie Maker compatible files let's say AVI, WMV or MPG files. For Video Converter, there are some on the Internet, just name one for your reference: HD Video Converter which enables you to convert HD and SD video to any video you want.

The second problem: Any suggestions on how to edit TS recording of Win TV to create a DVD?

The answer is "Yes", after converting Hauppauge PVR TS files to Pinnacle Studio or Windows Movie Maker editing formats, you can transfer Hauppague PVR files to Pinnacle Studio for burning to DVD or make a DVD with the help of Windows DVD Maker, a free DVD creating program comes free with every Windows you got.

If you still feel troublesome to create DVD with Pinnacle Studio or Windows Movie Maker, you can turn to a third party program named DVD Creator which can burn all popular videos like AVI, WMV, MPG, MOV, MP4, MKV, FLV, 3GP, AVCHD, MTS, M2TS, TS, MOD, TOD, MXF etc to DVD. With it, you can directly burn your TS recordings to DVD and then free playback on your DVD player.
